What I Worked On
- Strategy, Idea and Concept
- Product UI/UX Redesign
With the COVID-19 pandemic still spreading all around the world and most individuals are indoors, VIIBS is looking to create a platform that’s as interactive as other bigger competitors like TikTok, Vskit, Triller etc.
They reached out to me and requested an overhaul of what they were already working on, since they started without a product designer. The initial app looked like a clone of TikTok and was just bare which was a red flag for anyone. Users should be able to clearly differentiate one platform from the other. If a user begins to feel like an app is a clone of another app, there’s a high chance they would never come back to that app.
I had to carefully study the other short video platforms with the most users to find out exactly what they are doing right and what could be improved on to increase interactivity on Viibs. I got down to work and came up with a fully functional prototype. I also added extra interactivity using protopie
One of the core challenges in this project was coming up with features apart from the usual ones that are available in most short video platforms and I decided to amplify and fine tune the features a little more.
On Viibs, every user would be able to create challenges and they would be shown to different users on the platform, users can set prize rewards for each challenge, rules are set for each challenge and tons of other cool stuff.
In addition these challenges can also be promoted.
In comparison to how the app looked before in terms of usability, visual design and interactivity, based on user testing results ,the new redesign effectively changes how users interacted with the app and how they used the app.
Every great design begins with an even better story
